Those of you who follow Ginger Nuts of Horror on a regular basis will know that there are a few select authors, who get me excited with any new publication news. John Llewellyn Probert is one of those authors. A master storyteller with a cunning ability to chill you to the bone, while making you smile, with his wicked gift of imbuing his tales with a flair and drama and an incredible sense of fun that is reminiscent of the glory days of Hammer and Amicus horror films. When Black Shuck Books announced they were publishing a new collection of his short stories, I have to admit; I did a little happy dance. Read on for full details of this collection and how to pre-order a copy of the book.
Black Shuck Books is proud to announce John Llewellyn Probert’s sixth short story collection, his first for seven years. Made for the Dark comprises eighteen new and previously uncollected stories from one of Britain’s leading purveyors of weird fiction. From the back cover:
“Good evening. Take a seat. Make yourself comfortable. And prepare for a long night of the very darkest terrors.
Fear not, however, for this time the author himself will be on hand to help guide you through the tales of horror that lurk within this volume.
Back in the 1970s, when most little boys were busy dreaming of being an astronaut or a train driver, John Llewellyn Probert wanted to be Rod Serling or Roald Dahl, introducing a different tale of terror on television every week. Now, in his first collection in seven years, Mr Probert gets to achieve that lifelong ambition in prose form, as he acts as host to both previously uncollected tales and brand new horrors. He sincerely hopes his dreams won’t give you nightmares. Well, not so many that you’ll stop coming back for more...”
Made for the Dark will be released in September 2017 and can be pre-ordered now from blackshuckbooks.co.uk/made-for-the-dark
"There isn’t much time. Blood is already spattering the paper on which I am writing. I have no idea how many minutes I have left and yet there is so much I need to say, so much I need to warn people about. Already the pain that sears my face threatens to distract me from setting down this account. Perhaps it would be better if the world did not know. Perhaps it would be simpler if I just lay here and allowed myself to die." from "The Secondary Host"
