Ginger Nuts of Horror
Just when you thought the world had seen enough deluded people in Donald Trump, Kim Jong Un, Teresa May, Piers Morgan and Katie Hopkins, along came a rock band that outstripped them all – Dirty Tuppence.
Ladies & Gentlemen ...... welcome to the show !!!!
The latest Ginger Nuts of Horror's endorsed Kickstarter project is now live. Please help to support this project either by making a pledge or by sharing this article on your social media accounts.
Below is hopefully all the information you will need to decide whether you think it is worth pledging some of your hard earned income towards helping us make what promises to be a comedy horror classic !!!
Among the perks you can claim are time with some of the main stars - 2006 Big Brother winner, Pete Bennett, internationally renowned fetish model and live performer Dani Divine, and UK TV legend Joe Pasquale ... and the movie's 6' 6" Great Dane - Otis. Backers of this Kickstarter can star in the film, hang out on set, become an Associate Producer or attend the World Premiere by donating various amounts. What’s more Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Mila Kunis, Jim Carrey, Cameron Diaz, Jared Leto and Helena Bonham-Carter are all encouraged to contribute to the cause in their own private funding opportunity.
Legendary drummer "Egg" (AKA Percy Gash-Hound) is having to start his life afresh due to a very indelicate accident and it's highly publicised aftermath ... which saw him kicked out of the multi-million selling rock band Bad Penny, and also confined to a wheelchair.
After a year of extravagance and excess Egg has now spent all of his £3M fortune and needs a new income. So he teams up with his voluptuous new carer Brody (who also happens to be a mean bassist), and his vertically challenged twin brother Maynard (on guitar) ... and together they begin auditioning for a charismatic lead singer for their new band Dirty Tuppence (a Bad Penny tribute act - or is it vice versa?). Although how Egg plans to drum when he can't move his legs is something he is yet to work out !
But ... what should be a very straight forward process is thrown a huge curve ball by the human element.
Especially when you add people such as the hapless serial killer Derek Pendulous, bickering Private Investigators Jack Fire & Emily Brimstone, Otis the talking Great Dane, Joe Pascale, , 'Axl Rose' from genuine tribute band Guns 2 Roses, Fizzy Pop the high kicking mystical vocalist, Ulysses Twist and his weird clipboard fetish, and the crazy all-girl rock band Clitosaurus Rex.
"Dirty Tuppence - The Movie" is a topsy-turvy roller-coaster of a movie injected with a quirkiness and peculiarity that only a writer/director/actor like Warren Speed (who cites his two main influences as Charlie Chaplin and Rob Zombie) could imagine - and then bring to life.
The driving force behind "Dirty Tuppence" is eccentric Yorkshireman Warren Speed (49). And there is a quite a story behind how Warren has managed to get to the point where he is now about to direct, write and star in his fifth full-length feature film, despite so many obstacles, disasters and setbacks in his life.
Warren is bipolar (manic/depressive) but he sees it almost as a "superpower" - and no - this is not one of the movie's characters - but a real, very hard-working and driven Yorkshireman. Fifteen years since being diagnosed Warren now knows how to focus his mental health issue to benefit from its advantages ... and he is is adamant that if he was not bipolar he would never have been able to deliver four (ninety minute) movies with such tiny budgets in eight years. He has also wanted to make movies since he was twelve years old!
Warren's first movie "Zombie Women of Satan" (produced by his previous company Growling Clown), was released around the world on DVD in 2010 and made quite a splash at the renowned Cannes film festival the same year.
"Zombie Women of Satan" also aired on the horror TV channels in both the UK and USA, and went on to achieve over 1.9 million views when it was somehow illegally uploaded to YouTube (it was removed in 2015). But the fact is that nearly 2 million hits demonstrates the level of popularity his first movie achieved - despite the fact that Warren himself describes it as a "trashy, low brow comedy horror featuring his old alter ego - Pervo the Clown."
In 2017 the sequel "Zombie Women of Satan 2" was released. Outside of the uk it was released under the title "Female Zombie Riot"
