Ginger Nuts of Horror
So, over the last eight months I've reviewed a lot of extreme horror for the Film Gutter series. Some had been good, some has been bad, some has been excellent. But only one of them has scored ten out of ten, which was the extraordinary Flowers from writer/director Phil Stevens. Back in May I called it 'the first masterpiece of extreme horror since Martyrs', and a second viewing did nothing to change my opinion. This is the work of a serious talent, and even more sickeningly Flowers was his debut feature, which left me hugely excited to see what would be coming next.
Well, now Phil is working on his section feature film, the mysteriously titled Lung II. Bearing in mind there was no Lung I I'm already suitably intrigued. The film is almost in the can, and there's now a kickstarter campaign to secure the final costs for post-production and ensure that the film comes out on time. If you're a fan of the Film Gutter series, or a fan of extreme horror in general, this is a director to seriously look out for and somebody who's well worth supporting if you like your indy films dark, disturbing and artistic. Just $25 will secure you a signed DVD, a set of production stills and a thank you in the credits of the film, and there are even better perks available for contributions of $50 and $100. If this beauty lives up to Flowers – and all the signs are looking good – then trust me that this is a great investment of your time and cash. Even if you can't pitch in, we'd love you to help us spread the word and make sure Lung II gets out there.
Because I realllllly want to see this film... ;-)
